Yesterday I was at my son’s basketball practice and I gave a CD that I had promised to one of his teammates.  The young man is by far the best player and an 8th grader on a 6-8 grade team.  The CD contained pictures of him and the rest of the team that I took at their first game.  He was excited about the pictures and kept asking me if had them everytime he saw me.

When I gave him the CD he looked at me with an excited albeit confused look; “what’s this,” he said.  I told him it was a CD.  “It’s the pictures you’ve been on me about,” I said.  Again, the puzzled look.  “So it’s like music?” he said.  “No, no,”  I said, “it’s pictures; you load it on your PC and open the file and they’re on there.”  To make a long story short, I asked if he had a PC at home or one that he could access at school.  He said no.  Then he asked if I thought the CD would work at the library.  I told him that it would and to go to the librarian in the Young Adult section and ask for help.

This is why I started this organization because every kid deserves access to technology and opportunity and people in his or her community that care about them, have their best interest in mind, want them to succeed.  I’m excited about being able to try and help this young guy and hopefully he will see that there are other things in his life as fun and as exciting as the amazing things that he can do on a basketball court.

Thanks for all your help and support and tell me how I can better serve these kids
